Furthering its partnership with Zinédine Zidane, IWC has launched a Big Ingenieur edition that pays homage to the legendary footballer.
Limited to a production run of 500 watches, Zidane has been personally involved in the timepiece's design. It features a dark brown dial and the Arabic number of 10 – a reference to his heritage as well as the football shirt he wore for the French national team.
His name is engraved on the winding rotor (visible through the transparent sapphire-glass back) while the 27 and 45 are highlighted in red; a little nod to the times he scored during the 1998 World Cup final when he helped France to their historic win.
"ONE OUT OF 500” is etched on the side of the case at 9 o'clock while the watch is completed with a brown alligator leather strap. Spanning 45.5 millimetres, the stainless steel case has also been manufactured to fit the frame of the 1.85-metre athlete.
Fitted with a 51113 calibre movement, a large spring barrel supplied with energy from the Pellaton automatic winding system offers a seven-day power reserve. -www.iwc.com/-
