MERCEDES GP PETRONAS counts on the home factor
There is no doubt about the quality of the components of the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One Team. For a start a brilliant engine, the 2.4 litre V8 Mercedes-Benz FO108X.
Then on the personnel side, inspired entrepreneur Ross Brawn with two World Championships under his belt from last year to add to his fourteen previous titles. And in the cockpit, seven times World Champion Michael Schumacher and upcoming young star Nico Rosberg. Even the timing partner, GRAHAM watches, has excellent credentials. The question for this team and many race enthusiasts is can they bring it all together? After what Ross Brawn calls a “challenging time” in recent weekends the team are confident the hard work will pay off in the near future. With two home races coming up in Silverstone and Hockenheim, everybody at MERCEDES GP PETRONAS will be working extra hard to achieve the edge they are looking for.

Silverstone and Hockenheim could both offer MERCEDES GP PETRONAS an edge.
Silverstone is close to the home of MERCEDES GP PETRONAS and Ross Brawn is enthusiastic: “The British Grand Prix is always a very important and special weekend for our team with Silverstone situated between our factories in Brackley and Brixworth. A lot of thought and hard work has gone into our improvement plans for the car and we are hopeful of making further progress.”

The next round, Hockenheim is a few hundred kilometres from the Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Stuttgart. This year is the first time in over 55 years that Mercedes-Benz are running a Formula One Team under their name, hoping to replicate the success of the iconic Silver Arrows design that helped them win the World Championship in 1954 and 1955.

It was the iconic design of the Silver Arrows that has formed the basis of the specially designed watches that GRAHAM has produced as the team’s timing partner. Alexander Krausz, Managing Director at GRAHAM says: “We looked at the unique elements of the Silver Arrows design and produced a special edition watch, with hands that relate to the Mercedes-Benz star. We also picked out the wet weather tyre pattern to put on the bracelet ”.
Brawn is crossing his fingers: “It’s a long hard road ahead but we are confident that we will get there.”
Maybe it’s their partner’s GRAHAM’s values of precision and excellence that will be most needed if MERCEDES GP PETRONAS are to continue the winning traditions of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows.
