The international jury for the highly renowned iF International Forum Design has selected the r5.5 chronograph of the iconic Swiss watch brand Rado for the iF product design award of 2010 in the leisure/lifestyle category.

This year, 778 contributions were honored. A total of 2 486 products was submitted by 1016 participants from 39 countries. The Rado r5.5 chronograph has succeeded in a highly qualified and international competitive environment. It is made of black high-tech ceramics, a material that Rado has pioneered in the watch industry for more than 20 years.


The r5.5 collection was designed by the international designer Jasper Morrison and its launch marks the third phase of the very successful cooperation between Rado and this designer. His visionary approach of giving minimalist design a unique character is in keeping with Rado's aesthetic concept of a pure, innovative, iconic watch.



iF product design award 

The Rado r5.5 chronograph will be shown together with other selected products at the iF product design award exhibition for 2010 in Hanover, Germany. The exhibition will open officially on 2 March 2010 and continue until August 2010. During this period, approximately 250 000 international visitors are expected.

The iF product design award is a multifaceted competition covering all areas of product design. It provides design-related innovations with a platform to establish themselves and takes the global nature and dynamics of modern times into account. The iF product design award has been acknowledged as a hallmark for good design since 1953.
